HONESTY, TEAM WORK , OPENNESS THESE ARE THE PRINCIPLES UNDER WHICH WE OPERATE, SUPPORTING OUR CLIENTS TO DELIVER THE BEST RESULTS POSSIBLE - THE COMMUNICATION AROUND PLANNING DEVELOPMENTS HAS NEVER BEEN MORE IMPORTANT. THIS IS WHAT WE DO.
James Harbison & Company is a consultancy specialising in strategic communications in the fields of planning and large property development projects.
We deliver a tailored service for each client with expertise across a wide mix including community consultation, media relations and political engagement. We help to engage with a range of stakeholders and publics and communicate the key messages around development and planning.
The business has been trading successfully for 25 years, interrupted only by a three year sabbatical in 2006 when James Harbison joined Dundas & Wilson (then Scotland’s largest law firm), as Director of Planning and Communications. James’ role was to advise on the biggest overhaul of the planning system in more than a generation - the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006 - particularly the requirement for public consultation for Major and National planning applications.
Since 2009 James Harbison & Company has focussed on the burgeoning requirement for community engagement reports, not only for statutory Major applications, but also for many Local applications where consultation is considered to be best practice.
In the UK there is an increasing demand at a local and national level to increase the number of residential homes, care homes and social care facilities as well as the supporting retail, commercial and ancillary services. The ability to navigate the complex and often time-consuming process of community and political engagement is a vital part of the planning process for any developer, public or private.
This is where we can help.
